In a modern city like Singapore is an almost 200 year old mosque, a historical building. It is a Tamil Mosque, Muslims speaking the Tamil language predominantly come from India. It were Indian traders who founded this mosque. The green entrance and towers were very special. Something we have never seen before, a unique architecture.
The entrance was also the most impressive part of the building, inside it was simple and no decorations. A guide accompanied me into the mosque and provided information of the religion and the building. It was very interesting but some areas were not accessible for non-Muslims. The bathing area caught my attention even dough no one was there.
In een moderne stad als Singapore is een bijna 200 jaar oude moskee, een historisch gebouw. Dit is een Tamil moskee, Moslims die Tamil spreken komen voornamelijk uit India. Het waren dan ook Indiaanse handelaren die deze moskee oprichten. De groene inkompoort en torens zijn ook heel speciaal. Iets wat we nog nooit vooraf hadden gezien, een unieke architectuur.
De inkom was ook het meest impressionante van de moskee, binnen was alles eenvoudig en kaal. Een gids begeleidde mij in de moskee in gaf informatie over religie en het gebouw. Het was heel interessant maar sommige plaatsen waren niet toegankelijk voor niet moslims. De badruimten trokken mijn aandacht niet tegenstaande er niemand aanwezig was.
